From 26 to 28 February, the Grassroots Global Justice (GGJ) movement has carried on its fourth Membership Assembly in Miami (US). Besides defining their workplans for 2010-2011 and electing new member for its coordinating committee, the assembly has approved to organize a common GGJ week towards a common day of action in October of this year. We at the World March of Women are allied to GGJ since their beginning and have participated at the assembly with other international allies, like the Andean Coordination of Indigenous Organisations (CAOI), the Maghreb Social Forum and the Hemispheric Social Alliance (HAS).
Read below the GGJ statement of solidarity towards the World March of Women Third International Action:
"The Grassroots Global Justice – an alliance of grassroots organizations across the United States building power for poor and working class people with a global vision, stands in solidarity with the International World March of Women’s Movement in your fight to end violence against women and to eradicate poverty across the globe. In our work, we uphold the importance of women’s leadership in building a larger global movement against imperialism and for the liberation of all peoples. As an alliance we are committed to deepening our analysis of gender in relation to white supremacy and patriarchy and stand with you in this 100th year commemoration of International Womens’ Day and support your actions from March 8th to October 17th, 2010 and in the ongoing fight for womens’ rights throughout the world."
